Barranquilla, Colombia - On December 19, 2022, MicroPort^® CardioFlow Medtech Corporation (MicroPort^® CardioFlow, stock code: 02160.HK) announced that its self-developed VitaFlow Liberty^® Transcatheter Aortic Valve and Retrievable Delivery System ("VitaFlow Liberty^®") completed the first implantation in Colombia at the Organizacion Clinica General del Norte Hospital.

The surgery was successfully performed by Dr. Cristian Reyes Vargas, an expert in cardiology at the hospital, together with Dr. Pablo Lamelas, a renowned cardiology expert from Argentina. The patient had a successful outcome with no conduction disturbance or perivalvular leak postoperatively, and a transvalvular pressure gradient of 6mmHg.

Patient Information: Female, 74 years old

Ultrasound Evaluation:

The patient has a peak aortic valve flow velocity of 440 cm/s;Maximum transvalvular pressure gradient: 78 mmHg;Mean transvalvular pressure gradient: 49 mmHg.

CT Evaluation:The patient had a three-leaflet aortic valve. The circumference of the annulus is 68.1 mm with a mean diameter of 21.7 mm.The circumference of the LVOT is 64.9 mm with a mean diameter of 20.6 mm.

Sinus diameters assessed: left coronary sinus: 31.0mm, right coronary sinus: 33.6mm no coronary sinus: 30.5mm.

Annular angle: 58° aortic arch tortuosity, right coronary height: 16.0mm.

Access: bilateral femoral artery access and severe calcification of the abdominal aorta.

Procedures(Preoperative strategy):

• The patient's right and left femoral arteries were both accessed slim and severely calcified, so the inline sheath via the right femoral approach was chosen;

• The patient's aortic arch was severely tortuous and needed to be handled gently when crossing the arch;

• The patient had a large sinus diameter, and a TAV27 valve was chosen to provide the patient with better hemodynamics after surgery.

• Both the patient's right and left femoral arteries were accessed slim, and due to severe calcification, the inline sheath was chosen and inserted via the right femoral approach.
• The patient's aortic arch was highly tortuous, requiring careful handling during crossing.
• Given the patient's large sinus diameter, the TAV27 valve was selected to optimize postoperative hemodynamics

Postoperative Comments:

The patients benefited significantly after the surgery, with the average transvalvular diastolic pressure dropping from 49 mmHg preoperatively to 6 mmHg. As a motorized retrievable TAVI system，the ease, precision and stability of VitaFlow Liberty^® made a deep impression on the pyhsicians.
